Go East, Young Men

Wolf: “Hey Pete, how did you sleep last night?”
Pete: “Horribly.”
Wolf: “Good, glad I wasn’t the only one.”

Wolf and I woke up this morning in a campsite called Suncrest Resort outside of Moses Lake, WA; unfortunately next to an I-90 on-ramp. But to complain about the place would be a terrible injustice its amazing facilities and amenities. We played a nice game of one-on-one volleyball and threw the football around this morning before slipping down a slide in their swimming pool.

We left yesterday around 1:00 with 55,137 miles in the tank and we cruised through the Washington gorge with a dinner stop in the crusty little town of Yakima.

Today, we have seen Soap Lake, Blue Lake (a place I have visited before at Michael Morris’ old family cabin), hit a golf ball off of a cliff, and visited the Grand Coulee Dam (damn, all right).

It’s all blue skies and pillows of clouds right now on our way to Spokane. We are riding steady between rolling hills of green on Highway 2 singing along to “Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo.”

I don’t want to write too much and scare away the small, yet passionate PATWRA fanbase, so I’ll leave with some photos and a farewell from Spokane, WA. I believe Wolf just coined a new phrase that I’ve taken to heart: “A picture tells a thousand words.”

Next stop: Glacier National Park.
