One of the harder things to do on this trip had to be leaving Metamora. After our biscuits and gravy and world famous cappuccinos, we got back on Highway 52 East towards Cincinnati. We arrived at the Great American Ballpark for the 1:05 game between the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners.
A view of the main entrance of the park. Great American Insurance overlooks the beautiful stadium located on the banks of the Ohio River.
We parked on Pete Rose Drive and made our way up the street passing Johnny Bench Way en route to the stadium.
Scalped our tickets for $15 total. Had some great seats in the bleachers of left field, but we were baking in the hot Cincy sun. We eyed some shady seats behind home plate in the third deck that we were anxious to get to.
42-year-old Raul Ibanez patrolling left field.
Wolf standing in a sea of red, but for once, the Mariners shirt made sense. Go M's!
Cincy Big Boy.
Eatin' like the locals do - Chili cheese dog.
Mr. Red stretching out his legs before the big race.
A view from our new seats behind home plate. The fire blows in center field after another Reds strike out. They had eleven this game which earned the entire stadium free pizzas, which were redeemable the next day. Too bad we couldn't cash in.
Bronson Arroyo provided the majority of those strikeouts with that iconic high leg kick.
The famous Reds race. The warm-up paid off for Mr. Red as he took the race by the bill of his cap.
Flame thrower Aroldis Chapman was introduced to a roar from the crowd. We were pumped to see this guy throw as he holds the record for fastest pitch at 106 mph. He struck out two out of three batters and easily topped 100 mph several times.
Aroldis Chapman on the hill.
Mariners pulled out a surprising 3-1 victory. Way to go M's!
Connie Smith - "Cincinnati, Ohio"
Played this song right before "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch.
