Back In The Mountains

After Jim patched up Black Sally in St. Clairsville, we took a less travelled road that wound through West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Within the hills and lush forestry of western Pennsylvania, we saw a sign for Dogwood Hills Golf Course, which pointed down a gravel road. We decided to check out the course to see what golf was like through the Appalachian Mountains. After talking with Brett, the club pro who has played on the Canadian Tour, he cut us a deal to play three holes with two hard root beers, and a golf cart for $10.

Here we are with Brett, who is expecting his first child any day.

Interstate? Nah.

Getting ready for the back three.

Peter taking a practice swing on hole 11. We played holes 10 (which can be seen in the background), 11, and 18.

Wolf's shot on 11. Par 3.

Peter sinking his putt to save par.

Wolf's popped up drive on #18 can be seen on the upper right part of the photo.

We said goodbye to Brett and the beautiful Dogwood Hills and continued down our road to Morgantown, West Virginia. Morgantown was a place we always wanted to check out because it has a reputation as being a great college town being the home to West Virginia University. We headed straight for the football stadium.

The person who took our picture recommended this bar.

Great recommendation.

Memorabilia took up every square inch of the wall. Bob Huggins is a hero there. It should also be mentioned that Varsity Club made the best burgers we've had on our trip.

  1. $3.33 a hole isn't so bad...The course looks a lot better than Muirfield!

Any sign of Jerry West memorabilia at WVU??
